About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Industrial Engineer to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission to achieve excellence in health, healing, and learning.

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility to Nova Scotia Health, to support the mission, vision, and strategic directions by researching, designing, developing, and evaluating effective and efficient solutions to process and system design challenges involving patients, physicians, staff, equipment, technology, and organizational structure.

Expertise in performance improvement methodologies, project management, and change management techniques applied to solving complex problems is at the core of this role. The Senior Industrial Engineer will work in collaboration and partnership with Zone Exec, Network, and Program leadership in the development, management, execution, and evaluation of NSHA strategic initiatives as well as process improvement initiatives to achieve the best outcomes in healthcare program and service delivery, safe care, and continuous improvement to meet or exceed all accreditation requirements.

About You

We are looking for a highly qualified individual with a strong background in Industrial Engineering and a passion for process improvement. The ideal candidate will have:

  • An undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from a recognized university
  • Appropriate licensure/membership in professional organizations
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Industrial Engineering
  • Certified Health Executive is an asset
  • Demonstrates a high level of Industrial Engineering technical expertise
  • High-level decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management, program planning, and strategic planning
  • Comprehensive knowledge of system/process re-design methodologies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evaluation design and methodology
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in data management, data analysis, and statistical manipulation
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems in various hospital and community settings
  • Understanding of the interrelationships of the health system in Nova Scotia
  • Demonstrates excellent word processing, spreadsheet, relational database, visual management software, project management software, and simulation modeling software skills
  • Demonstrates excellent collaborative skills with executive-level leadership
  • Demonstrates excellent team building and management of group processes skills
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, both in written and verbal forms
  • Demonstrates a high level of initiative, patience, prioritization, and organizational ability skills
  • Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice by complying with the Professional Engineers Cannon Act, Engineering Profession Act, Professional Engineering By-Laws, and NSH standards
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent, full-time position, 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$56.81 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
