About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Intermediate Building Science Engineer/Associate to join our Building Science - Structural Rehabilitation & Testing Group in Brampton, ON. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical work related to new construction, assessment, and restoration of concrete structures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct condition surveys and assessments of structural components and waterproofing of parking structures, balcony decks, and other concrete elements in existing buildings.
  2. Prepare specifications and drawings for rehabilitation projects.
  3. Review submittals, shop drawings, substitution requests, and requests for information from contractors.
  4. Attend meetings with architects, clients, contractors, and trades.
  5. Review mock-ups and standard installation reviews.
  6. Write and review reports from field reviewers.
  7. Design review related to waterproofing and concrete elements of architectural drawings and specifications for new construction projects.
  8. Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior staff.
  9. Prepare engineering fee proposals.
  10. Conduct construction contract administration and construction review services during repairs.
  11. Liaise with clients, building strong client relationships, and generating new business.
  12. Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to at all sites and report to Manager and Joint Health and Safety Committee Members.
Requirements
  1. 5-10 years of technical experience in building science and/or structural rehabilitation with a proven ability to manage projects and help facilitate business development.
  2. University degree in a related field of study, such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science.
  3. P. Eng. designation in ON is required.
  4. In-depth knowledge of concrete structural elements is a must.
  5. In-depth knowledge of various building envelope systems and assemblies is an asset.
  6. In-depth knowledge of standards and guidelines related to parking structures/balcony systems and assemblies is a must.
  7. Experience in restoration projects is a must.
  8. Experience in new construction projects is an asset.
  9. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required for site visits.
  10. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers.
  11. Ability to work effectively in a high-demand and fast-paced environment.
  12. An excellent team builder with the ability to motivate people.
  13. Leadership skills are an asset.
