About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Science Engineer/Associate to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our Building Science - Structural Rehabilitation & Testing Group, you will be responsible for technical work related to assessment, restoration of concrete structures, and new construction.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct condition surveys and assessments of structural components and waterproofing of parking structures, balcony decks, and other concrete elements in existing buildings.
  2. Prepare specifications and drawings for rehabilitation projects.
  3. Review submittals, shop drawings, substitution requests, and requests for information from contractors.
  4. Attend meetings with architects, clients, contractors, and trades.
  5. Review mock-up and standard of installation reviews.
  6. Write and review reports from field reviewers.
  7. Design review related to waterproofing and concrete elements of architectural drawings and specifications for new construction projects.
  8. Conduct construction contract administration and construction review services during repairs.
  9. Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to at all sites and report to Manager and Joint Health and Safety Committee Members.
Requirements
  1. 2+ years of technical experience in building science and/or structural rehabilitation with a proven ability to manage projects and facilitate business development.
  2. University or college degree in a related field of study, such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science.
  3. P. Eng. designation in ON would be an asset.
  4. In-depth knowledge of concrete structural elements is a must.
  5. Knowledge of various building envelope systems and assemblies is an asset.
  6. Knowledge of standards and guidelines related to parking structures/balcony systems and assemblies is a must.
  7. Experience in restoration projects is a must.
  8. Experience in new construction projects is an asset.
  9. Strong organizational and time management skills as well as attention to detail.
  10. Ability to monitor and control project financials.
  11. Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  12. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required for site visits.
  13. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers.
  14. Ability to work effectively in a high demand and fast-paced environment.
  15. An excellent team builder with the ability to motivate people.
