The Housing Resettlement Specialist reports directly to the Director of Programs and Operations, playing a vital role in enhancing the dignity and quality of life for individuals facing personal crises. This position involves assessing clients' needs and providing guidance on housing, social assistance, education, and various health and social challenges.

Through dedicated work, the Housing Resettlement Specialist supports Good Shepherd Centres' mission to recognize and nurture each individual's inherent worth and potential for positive growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver case management and counseling services to clients in resettlement, focusing on facilitating their search for long-term housing solutions.
- Connect clients with appropriate services and coordinate their use of resources through a structured case management approach.
- Support clients throughout the resettlement journey, offering direction, encouragement, and assistance.
- Provide education on essential life skills, literacy, and career planning to empower clients.
- Inform clients about community resources and government assistance programs.
- Advocate for clients to enhance their access to necessary services.
- Identify service gaps and collaborate with other departments to develop new programs.
- Refer clients seeking rehabilitation for substance use to both in-house and external resources as needed.
- Uphold the confidentiality and sensitivity of client information at all times.
- Represent Good Shepherd Centres positively and adhere to established customer service standards.
- Participate in case conferences and consultations as required.
- Maintain organized files and accurate case documentation.
- Assist in the effective operation of the Resettlement/Housing Program under the guidance of the Manager, including training for Aftercare/Life Skills Development Workers, students, and volunteers.
- Follow the strategic guidelines related to housing and case management as set by relevant authorities.
- Maintain ethical standards and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned by the Director of Programs and Operations or designated personnel.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Good Shepherd Centres.
- A minimum of two years of experience in case management.
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
- Comprehensive understanding of homelessness, poverty, health issues, and knowledge of relevant statutory and voluntary services.
- Proven experience in assessment, crisis intervention, and case coordination.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation and government policies regarding housing and social assistance.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Strong written communication and computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities to foster teamwork and professionalism.
- Creativity and adaptability in achieving positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated hospitality in interactions with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Responsiveness to the needs of others.
- Capacity to understand the complexities faced by 'hard to serve' individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse populations.
