IMCO is seeking a highly driven Senior Principal to enhance our Private Equity team.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Senior Principal will play a crucial role in managing IMCO's global Private Equity portfolio. This position entails taking a leadership role in strategy formulation, deal sourcing, execution, and portfolio oversight. As a vital member of the team, the Senior Principal will leverage their extensive expertise to assess the viability of investment opportunities and manage an existing asset portfolio. The successful candidate will oversee the due diligence process, which includes conducting thorough industry and company evaluations, developing sophisticated financial models, negotiating legal agreements, and preparing recommendations for Investment Committee decisions, among other transaction-related responsibilities and portfolio management tasks. Additionally, the Senior Principal will be responsible for nurturing relationships and monitoring investments.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Assuming a leadership and oversight role in the overall investment process, including the analysis and evaluation of new direct investments, co-investments, and fund commitments.
  • Leading strategic priority projects within Private Equity and contributing to organization-wide initiatives.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to team members and leading recruitment efforts.
  • Engaging with various internal and external stakeholders and advisors in a leadership capacity.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive and current understanding of the private equity market landscape.
  • Driving investment recommendations based on the team's due diligence findings and analysis, leading discussions with the investment committee.
  • Executing and monitoring private equity investments:
    • Overseeing and contributing to the creation of investment memorandums, financial models, and other relevant reports.
    • Leading negotiations and execution of agreements and transaction-related documents.
    • Supervising multiple due diligence work streams.
    • Coordinating with internal stakeholders and core services groups, as well as external stakeholders and advisors.
    • Monitoring the ongoing financial and operational performance of portfolio investments.
  • Building and leveraging relationships with General Partners, management teams, and advisors/capital providers to gather market intelligence and capitalize on new investment opportunities.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • A university degree in Business or a related field, with a CFA designation, MBA, LLB, or similar qualifications preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in investment management, including at least 6-8 years in the direct Private Equity market (or similar), with substantial transaction experience, including leading the investment process, conducting due diligence, arranging debt financing, and negotiating documentation, as well as monitoring investments.
  • Experience in negotiating and leading deals, including process management, legal documentation, relationship management, and team leadership.
  • A proven track record of successful investment decisions.
  • Extensive relationship management experience, including primary responsibility for managing relationships with portfolio companies and other external stakeholders (investment partners such as General Partners and co-investors, as well as advisors such as financial and legal experts).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with strong communication abilities (both oral and written) and outstanding presentation skills.
