Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Laboratory Services department.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will play a critical role in the health care system by collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting diagnostic laboratory findings. This position will provide services in the specialties of Bio-Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Science.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, process, and analyze laboratory specimens
  • Interpret laboratory findings and report results to healthcare professionals
  • Provide high-quality patient care and service
  • Work collaboratively with laboratory staff and healthcare teams
  • Stay up-to-date with laboratory procedures and technologies
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a program in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Registration and membership in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • Minimum of one (1) year previous laboratory experience within a hospital environment
  • Knowledge of Cerner LIS and quality assurance and good laboratory practice
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of initiative and adaptability
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
