Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in the healthcare system by collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting diagnostic laboratory findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide laboratory services in the specialties of Bio-Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Science.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely test results.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with new technologies and techniques.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a program in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Registration and membership in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Minimum of one (1) year previous laboratory experience within a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of Cerner LIS and experience with specimen grossing is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve technical problems.
  • High level of initiative, with the ability to adapt to changes in assignment throughout a shift.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, staff, and volunteers.
