Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the General Manager, the Deputy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant. This includes managing staff, controlling costs, training employees, budgeting, administrative tasks, and actively engaging with guests during service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the restaurant's vision to all team members, leading by example and inspiring the team with a compelling future outlook.
  • Continuously monitor and meet the standards of technical service and attention to detail.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with guests, team members, and upper management.
  • Take charge of restaurant events, including private dining and buyouts.
  • Adhere strictly to beverage and wine control protocols.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support for restaurant operations.
  • Exhibit leadership in cultivating a culture centered around the enjoyment of food and wine.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical business practices, actively promoting the venue.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, training, and performance management initiatives.
  • Utilize conflict resolution and problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Assist in tracking sales, managing invoicing, and overseeing inventory.
  • Conduct pre-event briefings with service staff.
  • Schedule staff appropriately to ensure events are well-serviced.
  • Ensure payroll records are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Aim for maximum efficiency and continuous improvement in staff productivity.
  • Participate in the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, well-kept, and functional facility at all times.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop strategies for attracting new clientele.
  • Build and nurture relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business or Hospitality is advantageous.
  • Experience in event management is essential.
  • Background in a high-volume, fast-paced hospitality setting is required.
  • WSET Intermediate Wine Certificate or equivalent is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to maintain extreme organization in a dynamic environment while being a collaborative team player.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a diverse workload, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated business acumen.
