Under the guidance of the General Manager, the Deputy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant. This includes managing staffing, controlling costs, training staff, budgeting, administrative tasks, and actively engaging on the floor during service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Articulate the restaurant's vision to all team members, leading by example and inspiring the team with a compelling vision for the future.
- Continuously monitor and achieve key service metrics and attention to detail.
- Foster and maintain relationships with guests, team members, and senior management.
- Take charge of restaurant events, including private dining and buyouts.
- Adhere strictly to beverage and wine control procedures.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support for restaurant operations.
- Exhibit leadership in cultivating a culture centered around the enjoyment of food and wine.
- Demonstrate high standards of personal integrity and business ethics, promoting the venue at every opportunity.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, training, and performance management initiatives.
- Utilize conflict resolution and problem-solving skills effectively.
- Assist in tracking sales, managing invoicing, and overseeing inventory.
- Conduct pre-event briefings with service staff.
- Schedule event staff to ensure proper service for events/functions.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in payroll documentation.
- Aim for maximum efficiency and continuous improvement in staff productivity.
- Participate in the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, well-repaired, and organized facility at all times.
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop strategies for attracting new business.
- Build and nurture relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business or Hospitality is advantageous.
- Experience in event management is essential.
- Background in a high-volume, fast-paced hospitality setting is required.
- WSET Intermediate Wine Certificate or equivalent is a plus.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to maintain extreme organization in a dynamic environment while being a collaborative team player.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage a diverse workload, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated business acumen.
