About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Systems Analyst to join our Global Operations Technology team in the Adjudication department. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving the execution and delivery of individual goals, plans, and initiatives that align with our business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Agile Practice Facilitation: Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, to ensure productive meetings and full team engagement.
  2. Release Documentation Management: Manage release documentation, ensuring standards are met and facilitating timely stakeholder approvals within the documentation lifecycle.
  3. Documentation Lifecycle Oversight: Oversee the entire lifecycle of release documentation, from initial drafting to final approval.
  4. Impediment Removal: Identify and remove impediments that hinder the team's progress, shielding the team from external interruptions and distractions.
  5. Agile Tool Management: Maintain and update the team's progress using agile tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Kanban to ensure project status transparency to stakeholders and team members.
  6. Agile Practice Guidance: Guide the team on how to use Agile practices, support and mentor team members, helping them understand and apply Agile principles.
  7. Team Collaboration and Communication: Encourage open communication and collaboration within the team to facilitate conflict resolution and build a strong sense of team cohesion.
  8. Business Value Focus: Ensure that the Technology team is delivering the right product for stakeholders, ensuring user stories are clearly defined and the team understands the scope and expectation of work.
  9. Metrics Framework Management: Manage business and software development metrics framework for software products, analyzing large amounts of data to create reports and presentations for leadership teams.
  10. Process Improvement: Encourage the team to reflect on their processes and identify areas for improvement, implementing changes that enhance team performance and product quality.
  11. Support and Collaboration: Assist and support software development and the Support team in achieving their objectives by applying innovative and problem-solving thinking to increase design effectiveness, procedures, and cost-effective solutions while meeting business and regulatory requirements.
  12. Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporated into day-to-day activities and decisions.
  13. Operational Excellence: Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of the day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in complex IT projects.
  3. Adjudication Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience with Adjudication labs.
  4. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English at a B2 level.
  5. Agile Experience: Demonstrated project management experience with a deep understanding of agile principles and practices.
  6. Soft Skills: Exceptional facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
  8. Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  9. Project Management: General understanding of project management principles.
  10. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  11. Agile Mindset: An agile mindset with the flexibility to adapt to new and evolving environments.
  12. Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, virtual, and live communication skills.
  13. Tool Proficiency: Experience with Atlassian Confluence and JIRA.
  14. Customer Focus: A solid customer focus, with the ability to discern underlying client needs and identify opportunities to enhance service levels and increase solution scalability.
  15. Team Orientation: A strong team orientation, with a genuine interest in collaborative work, mentoring peers, and openness to constructive feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Agile Certification: CSM or equivalent Agile certification.
  2. PMP Certification: PMP certification.
  3. Microsoft Excel: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  4. Power BI: Experience with Power BI.
  5. Python: Proficiency in Python.
