Position Overview

LaSalle College Vancouver, a prominent member of the LCI Education Network, is seeking a skilled professional to oversee the Career Services department. This role is essential in providing comprehensive career development and employment support for our student body and alumni.

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will be an individual who excels in a vibrant and rapidly evolving environment. They will possess a strong focus on customer service and demonstrate an innate ability to connect with diverse audiences effectively.

The primary responsibility of the Career Services Manager will be to design and execute strategies that enhance the employability and career preparedness of graduates. This includes fostering robust partnerships with employers and community stakeholders, as well as supervising a dedicated team of career advisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement a strategic vision for the Career Services department that aligns with the overarching goals of LaSalle College Vancouver, catering to the diverse needs of students across various disciplines.
  • Oversee the execution and assessment of career services initiatives, including counseling, workshops, events, and job fairs.
  • Establish evaluation criteria for new programs based on labor market analysis.
  • Develop and manage a cooperative education program.
  • Prepare proposals for government funding to support high-demand programs.
  • Build and sustain effective collaborations with employers, industry groups, and community organizations to facilitate student employment and career advancement.
  • Lead, mentor, and train a team of career advisors, providing ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Work in conjunction with faculty and academic departments to integrate career education and employability skills into the curriculum and extracurricular activities.
  • Conduct surveys and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of career services programs and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders regarding career services initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and relevant regulations.
  • Represent the Career Services department at various meetings and events, maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in education, counseling, human resources, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in career services, higher education, or workforce development, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven knowledge of current trends and best practices in career development within the post-secondary education sector.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of audiences.
