Job Summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Co-op Career Educator to join our team. As a key member of the Arts Co-op Program, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the undergraduate co-op programs in the Faculty of Arts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Advising and Coaching

    Provide daily advising hours for career and employment coaching to prepare undergraduate students for applying to co-op positions and successful transition to work.

  • Program Development and Implementation

    Design and implement student advising and coaching strategies to increase student engagement and retention, and train and coach staff to enact these strategies.

  • Employer Relations and Site Visits

    Conduct in-person and virtual employer/student site visits to assess/evaluate student performance in the workplace, and help resolve performance issues.

  • Program Evaluation and Improvement

    Gather feedback from site visits to make informed decisions about progress and changes to the program, and make recommendations to the Associate Director.

  • Student Work Term Learning Assignments

    Read and evaluate student Work Term Learning Assignments each term, and review and critique co-op and career development reflections and/or activities.

  • Recruitment and Marketing

    Design and implement recruitment strategies to admit new students to the program, and develop marketing strategies to promote the program to existing and potential employers.

  • Program Administration

    Oversee the day-to-day administration of the program, including supervising permanent and student staff positions, and advising the Associate Director on program budget and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Education

    Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Experience

    Minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Skills

    Excellent oral and written communications skills, and exceptional organizational skills. A passion for Arts education and a demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently as well as with a team is essential.
