Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced educator to join our outreach team at Indigenous Futures in Engineering, focusing on high school-aged First Nations youth. This role involves developing and leading a program to support Indigenous students in STEM fields, bridging the gap between elementary schools and post-secondary programs.
The Program Director will be responsible for designing and delivering outreach workshops, coordinating with schools and community groups, and promoting STEM education among Indigenous youth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for STEM education and strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement outreach workshops in STEM fields for Indigenous populations
- Deliver programming to intermediate and high school students, focusing on hands-on learning experiences
- Liaise with schools, community groups, and stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery
- Coordinate on-campus programming, including event planning and logistics
- Collect and report on outreach activities, providing insights for program improvement
Required Qualifications:
- University degree in Education or a related field, with a focus on Indigenous education
- Indigenous citizenship with community involvement, demonstrating a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and perspectives
- Valid driver's license, with a willingness to travel to rural and remote communities
- Knowledge of engineering profession, with a focus on STEM education and outreach
Special Skills:
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous youth and community groups
- Experience with online teaching and learning platforms, with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity
