Position Overview:

WSP Canada is expanding, and our ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) division is looking to welcome a Director of Project Management to our Major Projects team.

In the role of Director of Project Management, you will excel as a program manager, demonstrating the ability to lead and supervise a team of Project Managers and Directors responsible for overseeing intricate major projects. Your strong governance and decision-making capabilities will be essential in nurturing and managing ongoing projects as well as exploring potential business opportunities with our diverse clientele. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Major Projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make informed recommendations and engage in critical decision-making on complex technical aspects of WSP projects.
  • Lead project planning, resource allocation, staffing, and subcontractor management.
  • Oversee governance for various major projects within the ERI team.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal evaluations and client interactions.
  • Define, develop, and document project budgets and schedules, approving changes as necessary.
  • Proactively manage timelines and ensure effective communication regarding schedule and cost conflicts.
  • Evaluate project resources' capabilities and initiate necessary actions to meet commitments.
  • Mentor team members on design requirements, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure project outcomes align with requirements for technical quality, reliability, schedule, cost, and budget margins.
  • Review drawings, budgets, and contractor bids for cost-effective contracts.
  • Build strong internal and external client relationships through a commitment to excellence.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture based on respect and support.
  • Manage diverse stakeholder groups effectively.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15+ years of experience in Project Management or a related field.
  • Formal training in project management; PMP certification is preferred.
  • 4-8 years of experience in an EPCM environment with industrial projects is advantageous.
  • P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is beneficial.
  • A proven history of delivering projects on time and within budget while ensuring high client satisfaction.
  • Proficient in MS Office and related vendor/database software.
