Communications Manager for Strategic Initiatives

About the Role:
Queen's University is embarking on the Renew Program, a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance the effectiveness of our professional services in support of the academic mission. This program aims to equip and empower professional services staff with essential tools, systems, and processes. The Renew Program Office works in close partnership with leadership and professional service teams to implement meaningful improvements in service delivery, fostering an environment that aligns with the university's academic objectives.
Position Overview:
The Manager of Communications for the Renew Program Office will be responsible for the creation and execution of strategic internal communications related to the Renew Program. As a vital member of the University Relations (UR) team, this role reports directly to the Director of Communications and collaborates closely with the Executive Director of the Renew Program, serving as the primary communications expert for the initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with various initiatives under the Renew Program.
- Create detailed communications plans and materials that support the objectives of the program.
- Work collaboratively with a high-performing team of professionals, ensuring a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusivity (ED&I) in all communications efforts.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively while adapting to unexpected challenges.
- Contribute to a culture of open communication and engagement within the university community.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree coupled with several years of progressive experience in communications, particularly in change management.
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop high-quality communication strategies and materials from inception to publication.
- Experience in the post-secondary education sector is advantageous.
- Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Due to the focus on internal communications, the incumbent will be required to work on campus at least three days per week.
