Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Shop Operations Manager to join our team in a key location. As a Shop Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing all location maintenance operations and providing shop staff oversight. You will directly supervise shop staff, provide maintenance operational visibility to the Location Manager, and assume primary responsibility for managing efficient maintenance performance of the location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and Administer Fleet Maintenance: Schedules and administers fleet maintenance, assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment, and communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and other operations personnel.
- Supervise Shop Staff: Supervises shop staff, including hiring, firing, approving salary increases or decreases, training and employee development, planning and directing work, disciplining, handling employee complaints or grievances, and handling performance reviews.
- Work with Location Manager and Region Maintenance Management: Works closely with the location manager and region maintenance management to provide status of maintenance and budget requirements.
- Ensure Compliance and Safety: Ensures compliance with State, Federal, and Company requirements, and maintains a safe environment that conforms to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review and Order Maintenance Supplies: Reviews repair orders, orders fuel for vehicles, orders parts, and subcontract repair work.
- Implement Efficiency Projects: Initiates and implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Train and Motivate Maintenance Technicians: Ensures that maintenance technicians are trained on current operating procedures, are properly equipped, and motivated to accomplish the maintenance program in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Supervise Bus Fueling and Grounds Keeping: Supervises bus fueling and arranges services for building and ground keeping.
- Complete Special Projects: Completes special projects as assigned and performs hands-on work activities.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical Training: Technical training preferred
- CDL Operator's License: Possess CDL Operator's license with required endorsements
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
- Lifting Ability: May require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs
- Communication Skills: Good written and oral communication skills
- Computer Skills: Computer skills
- Industry Experience: Industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment is preferred
