Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver extensive engineering and design solutions by defining design criteria and overseeing the creation of specifications, calculations, and deliverables in line with project specifications.
  • Guide and provide technical oversight to design initiatives undertaken by engineering, design, and drafting personnel on assigned projects.
  • Collaborate within the electrical engineering department as a Controls Engineer, closely interfacing with Process Engineering and engaging with Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation teams.
  • Develop and design comprehensive engineering packages, including DCS/PLC system architecture.
  • Generate Control System-related engineering outputs, such as functional specifications, logic diagrams, block diagrams, control system layouts, control panel designs, wiring details, I/O assignments, control system topologies, hardware selections, HMI designs, and loop assignment diagrams.
  • Assess and approve inquiries, evaluations, and purchase requisitions for control systems and network equipment.
  • Assist Process/Project Engineers in the preparation of P&IDs, Cause and Effect diagrams, S/D Keys, Control Narratives, Setpoint lists, and Alarm Lists.
  • Engage in HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA assessments.
  • Participate in FAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning processes.
  • Conduct shop inspections and resolve technical challenges, aiding in the resolution of issues in the shop or field.
  • Create progress reports and manage change processes effectively.
  • Ensure the consistency and integrity of Controls design throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A recognized degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
  • P. Eng membership in APEGA.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in electrical design for oil & gas processing facilities.
  • Experience in an EPC and EPCM work environment.
  • Proficiency in integrated instrumentation and control system design.
  • Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems, Safety Instrument Systems, Burner Management Systems, High-integrity Pressure Protection Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, and RTUs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential for internal team collaboration and client interactions.
