Clinical Nurse Leader, Neonatal Program Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Leader to join our Neonatal Program team at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre. As a Clinical Nurse Leader, you will play a key role in coordinating staffing coverage and providing clinical supervision, guidance, and support to nursing and support staff.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and supervise the work of nurses and support staff, utilizing a priority setting and problem-solving approach to ensure effective patient care.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve performance and maximize staff utilization, through role modeling, mentoring, coaching, teaching, and ongoing development of personal and professional skills.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager and leadership team to determine and meet the educational needs of individual staff members and groups of staff members.
- Provide input to the Neonatal Program Management team on the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care standards and policies and procedures.
- Participate in program-specific and hospital-wide working groups and committees to support communication processes internal and external to the Neonatal Program.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Three (3) years recent experience in Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care and related experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Demonstrated relationship building skills and ability to participate as an effective member of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to patients and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, facilitate, and manage change.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a professional role model.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
