About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Planner to join our team at Dillon Consulting. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to the growth and development of our organization.

Responsibilities
  • Project Delivery
    • Manage and lead projects for private and public sector clients related to environmental assessment, permitting, and compliance monitoring.
    • Author environmental reports, including study reports and project reports, to satisfy regulatory requirements.
    • Evaluate alternative solutions to deliver projects and develop mitigation to avoid/offset negative environmental impacts.
    • Develop and lead public and agency engagement programs.
    • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on exciting and challenging projects.
  • Business Development
    • Build client relationships through market opportunities, client communications, proposal preparation, and business development activities.
  • Learning & Development
    • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
    • Provide input to the career development of less-experienced staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
    • Contribute to Dillon's corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications
  • A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in planning, environmental studies, biology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience, preferably in the consulting industry.
Experience
  • SUCCESSFUL PROJECT DELIVERY as an Environmental Planner, Project Manager, or Environmental Lead.
  • Experience managing and delivering Class Environmental Assessments on behalf of municipalities or provincial agencies.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial, and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of stakeholder and Indigenous Community engagement programs.
  • Experience in business development activities, including client development and responding to Request for Proposals.
  • Environmental management during construction, including developing environmental management plans, on-site monitoring, and documentation.
  • Professional designations such as Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are considered an asset.
