CRH Canada is actively seeking an Environmental Land Management Specialist to enhance their dedicated team.

The Environmental Land Management Specialist will be instrumental in:

  • Assisting with CRH's land stewardship initiatives.
  • Facilitating environmental compliance documentation for both CRH Global and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Overseeing the execution and adherence to Environmental Compliance Approval standards, particularly concerning water, air, and noise regulations.

Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the Manager of Land & Environment, with a dotted line to the Director of Approvals and the Land & Environment Specialist.

Position: Environmental Land Management Specialist

Contract Type: Temporary – Maternity Leave

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of environmental initiatives and programs within the Ontario Materials division.
  • Support compliance monitoring efforts focusing on air and water quality.
  • Collaborate on project management related to approvals and environmental initiatives, liaising with operational, maintenance, and engineering teams as needed.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and refinement of the Ontario Materials environmental management framework.
  • Conduct field operations while managing external consultants.
  • Prepare and analyze maps as required.
  • Handle contract administration and process invoices through SAP.
  • Engage in data collection for both internal and external environmental reporting obligations.
  • Manage tenant relations and agricultural leases on designated properties.
  • Maintain and enhance CRH's land management system.
  • Assist with planning applications, appeals, amendments, and communication with municipal and provincial ministries as necessary.
  • Review and prepare feedback on municipal and provincial policies.
  • Possess a foundational understanding of provincial legislation, official plans, zoning bylaws, and local policy frameworks.
  • Support the formulation of strategies to safeguard CRH's operations in light of current and future environmental and planning regulations.
  • Occasional travel to various Ontario Materials sites across the province.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, geology, biology, hydrogeology, or environmental science.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork and manage light lifting tasks.
  • Proven knowledge of Ontario planning legislation and environmental approvals.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively towards shared objectives.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently.
  • Excellent project management and computer skills (Microsoft Office), including proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
