**Job Summary:**
The Waste Depot Labourer is a critical role within GFL Environmental, responsible for the safe and efficient handling, consolidation, and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by our facilities.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents visiting our depot, ensuring a positive experience and fostering a sense of community.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with York Regional employees and the public, promoting a culture of transparency and cooperation.
- Stay up-to-date with all on-site training documents, ensuring a high level of knowledge and expertise in waste management practices.
- Receive and process Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste (MHSW) from residents, adhering to strict safety protocols and regulations.
- Identify, sort, and pack MHSW into designated containers, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of grounds and facilities, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Follow supervisor instructions and guidelines, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, prioritizing personal safety and the safety of others.
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times, reporting any equipment issues or concerns to supervisors.
- Comply with all rules and regulations governing the operation of our depot, ensuring a high level of compliance and adherence.
**Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:**
- Demonstrate the ability to perform moderately labor-intensive and repetitive tasks, with a focus on efficiency and productivity.
- Be physically fit, with the ability to lift over 50 pounds and stand on cement for extended periods.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, residents, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain planning and organizational skills, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
- Display the ability to analyze and solve problems, thinking critically and creatively.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
