Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Nursing Unit Clerk to join our team at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our nursing staff, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage patient charts, records, and documents, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure timely and effective communication, including relaying information to relief staff and maintaining accurate timekeeping records.
  • Provide receptionist duties, including greeting patients, visitors, and staff, and directing them to the appropriate area or staff member.
  • Perform various clerical tasks, such as typing, answering phones, and requisitioning supplies, while maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned, ensuring the efficient operation of the unit.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program.
  • One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including typing skills.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
