Role Overview
The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist position is integral to the Get Up and Go program and the inpatient Therapeutic Recreation team. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including managing the admission process, facilitating evening and outing programs, and participating in an on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to identify clients' recreational interests and objectives.
- Support the implementation of the Get Up and Go programming and schedule.
- Provide leisure counseling and education to clients and families during discharge.
- Adhere to the documentation policies established by Holland Bloorview.
- Collaborate closely with other recreation and life skills staff to ensure a cohesive approach to care.
- Engage in the training and supervision of students and recreation therapist assistants.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain a safe and healthy work environment, and promote a culture of client/patient safety through daily practices.

Additional Duties
- Participate in weekend on-call rotations.
- Support evening program activities.
- Assist with outings, special events, and unique program initiatives.
- Provide support and backfill for the Therapeutic Recreation team as required.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related health discipline, along with a college diploma in Therapeutic Recreation, and certification (CTRA) is required.
- Experience in the Therapeutic Recreation field, particularly with children who have physical and/or developmental disabilities, is preferred.
- Proven ability to effectively manage varying clinical and administrative tasks.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in Therapeutic Recreation is essential.
- Availability to work evenings and/or weekends is necessary.
