Central Sterile Supply Technician

Required Education and Experience: A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is necessary. Certification as a Central Sterile Supply Technician or equivalent is required. A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is essential. CPR certification is also mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Work Environment: Demonstrates a commitment to safety protocols in accordance with established standards such as OSHA, ANSI, and AAAMI. Reports any observations related to accidents or unsafe conditions, including malfunctioning equipment or pest issues. Complies with the infection control program by adhering to proper hygiene practices and handwashing protocols. Follows isolation and contamination procedures diligently. Utilizes standard precautions for infection control when managing contaminated instruments.
Instrument Management: Facilitates the efficient turnover of surgical cases by monitoring the schedule and assisting in the removal of soiled instruments from operating rooms as necessary. Recognizes and is knowledgeable about various instruments, power tools, basin sets, and trays. Conducts inspections for defective components or malfunctions and is responsible for initiating repairs while maintaining records in a Log Book. Cleans and lubricates instruments according to specific requirements.
Assembly and Sterilization: Assembles instruments into sets, packages them according to size and organization, and ensures accurate labeling. Executes sterilization processes using appropriate methods and stores items correctly.
Sterilization Techniques and Standards: Proficient in the operation of High Pressure Steam Sterilizers and understands the protocols for immediate use sterilization. Loads items in an accepted manner and selects the appropriate dial settings.
Maintenance and Reporting: Regularly checks indicators for proper functionality, maintains cleanliness and polish of the unit, and promptly reports any malfunctions to the Director/Manager or designated personnel.
