Water Treatment Plant Operator

The City of Merritt is seeking a highly skilled Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and environmentally conscious handling of water and wastewater.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment systems to deliver clean, potable water to residents.
- Perform highly skilled operational and maintenance work, including inspecting equipment, servicing equipment, and carrying out preventative maintenance.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date records and compliance with Federal and Provincial environmental standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with the team to support the overall operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Wastewater Collection System, Water Treatment System, and Water Distribution System.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure a culture of safety and customer service excellence.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in wastewater collection and water treatment.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in water distribution and wastewater treatment.
- Air brake endorsement.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Confined Space Certification.
- Level II EOCP Certification in at least one of the following: Municipal Wastewater Collection, Water Treatment, Water Distribution, or Wastewater Treatment.
