Job Summary

The City of Merritt is seeking a highly skilled Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and environmentally conscious handling of water and wastewater.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment systems to deliver clean, potable water to residents.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure operations comply with City expectations and Federal and Provincial environmental standards.
  • Participate in emergency response and after-hours work as required.
Requirements
  • Level II EOCP Certification in Municipal Wastewater Collection, Water Treatment, Water Distribution, or Wastewater Treatment.
  • 2 years of experience in wastewater collection and water treatment.
  • 2 years of experience in water distribution and wastewater treatment.
  • Air brake endorsement and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification.
  • Confined Space Certification.
