Job Description

**Telesat Canada: Data Engineer Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Telesat Canada. As a Data Engineer, you will design, develop, implement, and support data solutions and integration frameworks within our organization, ensuring secure and seamless data storage, flow, and communication.

Key Responsibilities
  1. **Business Requirements Analysis**: Collect and analyze business and system requirements to create project documentation as required.
  2. **Data Assembly**: Assemble sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
  3. **Integration Planning**: Participate in the planning of integration projects, working and collaborating with stakeholders and project team members.
  4. **Data Solution Design**: Design, develop, and deploy data and integration solutions following our organization's architectural principles, policies, and guidelines.
  5. **Research and Recommendations**: Research and make recommendations on data and integration products and services.
  6. **Testing and Troubleshooting**: Test and troubleshoot integration solutions, identify and resolve system issues.
  7. **Audit and Monitoring**: Implement audit, logging, and monitoring solutions of integration systems.
  8. **Compliance**: Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
Requirements
  1. **Experience**: 5+ years of experience in enterprise-level application integration, including design, testing, deployment, and support.
  2. **Business and Technical Analysis**: Experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling, and methodology development, and data mapping.
  3. **Cross-Functional Applications**: Experience in overseeing the linking of cross-functional applications between disparate business units and systems.
  4. **Real-Time Streaming Solutions**: Experience with real-time streaming solutions design and development, including Apache Kafka, ksqlDB, Event Hub, Azure Data Explorer, Python.
  5. **Cloud Technologies**: Experience with cloud technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Data Lakehouse, MS Fabric. Professional certification is desirable.
  6. **Relational Database Design**: Knowledge of relational database design and management techniques, TSQL, PostgreSQL.
  7. **Data Warehouse Solutions**: Knowledge of data warehouse solutions design and implementation.
  8. **Integration Security**: In-depth experience with securing integrations, encryption, Azure Key Vault.
  9. **Automated Integration Tools**: Direct, hands-on experience with automated integration tools and process orchestration.
  10. **API Protocols**: Familiarity with API protocols.
  11. **Project Management Methodologies**: Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheets.
  12. **SDLC Cycle**: Strong knowledge of system and software SDLC cycle, DevOps, quality assurance best practices and methods.
  13. **Security Clearance**: Existing Security clearance is an advantage.
