Stikeman Elliott is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Applications and Database Specialist to join our growing IT team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our critical applications and databases, supporting both legal and financial operations within the firm.

As an Applications and Database Specialist, you will be responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining a wide range of software solutions. Your expertise will encompass database administration, application support, and troubleshooting complex technical issues. You will collaborate closely with IT professionals and business users to ensure optimal system performance and user satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, install, configure, upgrade, and maintain various applications and databases.
  • Assist in research, analysis, and planning for the deployment of new features and functionalities.
  • Provide comprehensive support for all applications and their associated databases, including iManage, Aderant Expert/Sierra, Interaction, Integration Builder, WallBuilder, IntApp Flow, viDesktop, viRecruit, SharePoint, and other legal software.
  • Manage and maintain the firm's database infrastructure, primarily Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Offer 2nd level support to IT staff and business users for supported applications and technologies.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with both IT and business personnel.
Qualifications:
  • University degree or college diploma in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • 2+ years of experience in Applications or Database Administration or a similar role.
  • Experience working with applications that integrate with third-party software and services.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server, including SSRS, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Working knowledge of MS Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Understanding of programming concepts in modern languages (C#, JavaScript, HTML).

  • Familiarity with IT service management principles (incident management, change management).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks effectively, especially in urgent situations.
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and punctual.
