About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a skilled Application Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on the FIS Profile tool, utilizing your technical expertise to develop and maintain its functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business, Architecture, and Development, to design and implement solutions for new projects and features.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues on the current system, identifying root causes and implementing effective fixes.
  • Lead a team of developers, working closely with Project Managers, Scrum Masters, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across various business functions, ensuring technology solutions align with business strategies.
  • Apply your knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
  • Support complex business processes, leveraging your technical expertise to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of the FIS Profile Tool, including scripting languages and database management.
  • Experience with FIS Database – MUMPS and ability to access core FIS code through GTM.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX (AIX platform) and SQL/Database principles.
  • Experience with Database connectivity (JDBC, JTDC) and 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in software development.
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of Java 8/Spring, API information technology principles, and system integration methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to understand business requirements, create technical design documents, and deploy code to various environments.
  • Financial banking experience, preferably in the mortgage area, and strong trouble-shooting skills.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of Agile principles and experience using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, and ACCP.
