Job Title: Senior SQL DBA

Job Summary:

CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL DBA to join our team. As a Senior SQL DBA, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of our critical Enterprise Application databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Ensure system availability 7/24 to critical Enterprise Application database(s) abiding by ITSM policies and procedures for Change, Incident and Problem investigation.
  • Database Installation and Configuration: Installation of Microsoft SQL, Postgres and Oracle databases and associated data replication solutions.
  • Database Performance Optimization: Configuring databases for mission critical, highly available and high throughput applications.
  • Database Environment Management: Provide direction on database environments to ensure a high-level of performance, including an understanding of underlying storage, network and server infrastructure running Microsoft, Linux and AIX operating systems.
  • Database Improvement: Identify database environment gaps and implement improvements to database procedures and infrastructure scripts (monitoring, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, database refresh etc), including automation/self-service ideas.
  • Database Roadmap: Provide input on long term database roadmap vision, including upgrades and patching.
  • Database Migration: Perform design evaluations for migration strategies for on-premises Microsoft SQL database(s) to Azure cloud.
  • Database Documentation: Prepare and maintain all technical documentation for DBMS and infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in database administration utilizing Microsoft database solutions in a large corporate environment.
  • Certifications: Certified in Microsoft /Oracle database technologies.
  • Skills: Experience and knowledge of Windows Server, and Linux. Understanding and experience of DevOps, ITIL and ITSM foundation frameworks. You have experience with any - ServiceNow, Solarwinds, Commvault, AppDynamics, Control-M tools is desired.
  • Communication: Strong communicator.
