We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Avian and Exotics referral service at 404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital in Newmarket, ON.
About the Role:This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in veterinary technology, with a focus on avian and exotic animal care. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of specialists, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care and support.
Responsibilities:- Assist in the care and management of avian and exotic patients, including physical examinations, patient assessment, and medical procedures.
- Prepare and assist with surgical procedures, including patient recovery and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and test results.
- Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their owners, including education and counseling on animal health and behavior.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to develop and implement treatment plans, and to provide ongoing patient care and support.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest advances in veterinary technology and avian and exotic animal care.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic, with a focus on avian and exotic animal care.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary technology, including medical procedures, patient assessment, and medical record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, owners, and veterinary staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care and support.
