Job Summary

Gardewine is seeking a skilled Dockworker to join our team in our Toronto Terminal. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient loading and unloading of trailers, as well as completing all necessary paperwork associated with freight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect freight for damages, shortages, or overages, and report any discrepancies to the Dock Leadhand.
  • Strip trailers and place freight in the correct area of the warehouse, ensuring accurate and efficient storage.
  • Complete freight handling and loading activities, adhering to all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Handle shipments in accordance with standards to minimize claims and optimize delivery efficiencies.
  • Monitor and complete bills of lading and other shipping documents, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain a clean and organized dock area, adhering to all safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Practice and promote a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Dispose of garbage in designated areas, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the dock.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, power jacks, and hand dollies, adhering to all safety guidelines and protocols.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years' experience working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven logistics environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • A proven ability to work with minimal supervision, while being a team player.
  • Physical demands of the Dock position are above average, requiring the ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend and twist consistently, and stand and walk for extended periods.

Work Schedule

This role is available for an evening shift, Monday to Friday, 3:30pm to midnight, or an afternoon shift, Monday to Friday.
