Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Project Manager to join our team at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a variety of planning, preliminary, and detailed-design highway improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate project teams to deliver highway improvement projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Liaise and work with ministry staff, senior management, internal stakeholders, external agencies, municipalities, developers, consultants, and the public to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead and coordinate public consultation programs to engage with stakeholders and ensure that their concerns are addressed.
  • Acquire, administer, and evaluate engineering service providers to ensure that they meet the required standards.
  • Direct and supervise assigned staff to ensure that they have the necessary resources and support to complete their tasks.
Requirements
  • You must be a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • You must have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management skills to manage projects, including acquisition and management of consultants.
  • Well-developed leadership skills to assign and schedule work.
  • Proven oral and written communications skills to write reports and present proposals, recommendations, and provide expert evidence.
  • Proven effective interpersonal and relationship management skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, senior officials, and the public.
  • Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of civil engineering related to highway engineering.
  • Working knowledge of related fields, including geotechnical, pavement design, structural, drainage, surveys, electrical, traffic, and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of alternative delivery methods, such as functional outsourcing, Total Project Management, and Design Build.
