Role and Responsibilities

The Project Manager will work closely with the Corridor Lead to ensure the successful delivery of the GO Expansion program. This role is part of the Metrolinx Program Team, which brings together experts from MCS and Metrolinx to drive project outcomes.

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team of engineering managers, project managers, and deputy project managers to deliver projects and scope under their control.
  • Driving a culture of best practice for health, safety, wellbeing, and quality across the program.
  • Engaging with project delivery teams to understand challenges and develop resolutions that benefit the program.
  • Supporting the Corridor Lead in leading a major multi-disciplinary team.
  • Serving as a safety leader across all project delivery works.
  • Proactively engaging with project delivery teams to understand key performance indicators and develop resolutions.
  • Managing activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome.
  • Supporting the Project Controls Centre to maintain up-to-date metrics on program performance.
  • Recommending and initiating changes to project delivery plans.
  • Interacting with clients and stakeholders to ensure objectives are met.
  • Managing external relationships important for project delivery.
  • Building and maintaining networks with peer project teams and other disciplines.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of implementation plans.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent with professional work experience in project and construction delivery management.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar field.
  • Solid understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, planning, delivery, site logistics, commercial, and legal/contract issues.
  • Sound knowledge of contract and commercial procedures.
  • Sound project management expertise.
  • Stays up to date with key industry/professional trends through networking and Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and ability to advise clients and articulate BIM strategy.
Personal and Soft Skills

You will need to possess:

  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of challenges and develop solutions.
  • Proficient in office technology, software, and applications.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Employment Terms and Conditions

This is a permanent position with SYSTRA Canada, reporting to the Senior Project Manager. The location is Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the division is Transit.
