Alberta Health Services is presenting a remarkable opportunity for a Clinical Operations Manager, overseeing clinical functions and programmatic direction for the Emergency Services.

Role Overview:

In this role, you will collaborate with a vibrant healthcare team, serving a diverse patient demographic in an urban setting, emphasizing the AHS Patient First and Our People strategies. As the primary trauma center for Southern Alberta, recognized for Cardiology and Neurosciences specialties, you will be accountable for ensuring the provision of high-quality, accessible, and sustainable patient and family-centered care within the Emergency Services framework. Your exceptional communication and change management capabilities, alongside your expertise in human resource and budget oversight, are vital for success in this position. As a member of the Calgary Zone leadership team, you will promote and enhance quality improvement, patient care, and staff engagement through effective collaboration with colleagues, staff, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead recruitment and performance management of personnel in a unionized setting.
  • Report to the Patient Care Manager and collaborate with the Emergency Services leadership team.
  • Exhibit consistency in practice and competence as a leader, demonstrating commitment to the team and the overarching vision of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

You should possess progressive experience in a healthcare setting, demonstrating strategic thinking that aligns with long-term objectives while evaluating options and implications. A proven track record in managing change and developing innovative solutions for complex challenges is essential. You must also be adept at managing diverse human, financial, and physical resources within a multifaceted environment. Strong organizational skills, a client-focused approach, and a dedication to delivering long-term quality services are crucial. Experience in collaboration with physicians and other stakeholders, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, is required. You should be comfortable with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, and inspiring confidence in others. A demonstrated ability to foster partnerships and achieve organizational objectives while navigating a unionized environment is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

A master's degree in nursing or leadership is advantageous. Experience in leading healthcare teams and providing innovative solutions to complex systemic issues is preferred. Proven coaching abilities to support team members in realizing their full potential are beneficial. A strong knowledge of Emergency Services operations will be an asset.
