ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a Wellness and Care Assistant, you play a vital role in our community by assisting residents in engaging in meaningful activities while ensuring a safe and nurturing atmosphere.
Under the guidance of the Health & Wellness Manager, your focus will be on enriching the lives of residents by empowering them to make choices and maintain their independence. You will deliver care in accordance with personalized care plans, established protocols, and the highest standards of practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of secondary education is required.
• Certification from an accredited Health Care Aide program and current registration in the Alberta Health Care Aide directory.
• Successful completion of the Medication Assistance Program (MAP) is necessary.
• Certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR is mandatory.
• Previous experience in a similar role, particularly with seniors, is advantageous.
• Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently while meeting the care needs of residents, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
• Reliable and responsible, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
• A positive demeanor that aligns with the goals and values of our community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with the care team to provide insights on residents' care plans based on their holistic needs.
• Deliver comprehensive care that includes cognitive, social, and emotional support, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Assist residents in their daily activities while respecting their autonomy and preferences.
• Execute care procedures following established policies and standards.
• Monitor and document changes in residents' health and well-being, maintaining accurate health records.
• Provide support to colleagues and advocate for residents' rights and needs.
• Ensure a clean and organized living environment for residents, adhering to safety standards.
• Participate in maintaining supplies and assisting with housekeeping tasks as needed.
• Follow infection control protocols and comply with health and safety regulations.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Health and Wellness Manager.
• Adhere to all corporate policies and complete mandatory training.
• Comply with health and safety legislation and participate in safety training and drills.
