Job Summary:

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of school facilities, including classrooms, hallways, and common areas
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, painting, and repairing equipment and fixtures
  • Assist with special events and projects, such as setup and teardown of equipment and supplies
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the school
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a maintenance or custodial role an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
