Land Surveyor for Manitoba Transportation

Position Overview
The Manitoba Government is on the lookout for a skilled individual to take on the role of Land Surveyor. This position falls under the Construction Support Services branch, which is integral to the Construction and Maintenance sector, providing expert technical training, consulting, and evaluation services to ensure high standards in highway construction projects.

Employment Conditions:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must hold a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's licence
- Must be licensed as a Manitoba Land Surveyor or be able to obtain the Manitoba Land Surveyor (MLS) Licence within 8 months of hire
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Surveying Engineering or a suitable combination of education and experience
- Field operations experience with the capability to support legal surveys
- Experience in human resource activities such as training, coaching, and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health & Risk Management policies
- Practical experience with GPS legal land survey applications
Desired:
- Experience with plans registration in Manitoba's property rights system
- Familiarity with construction specifications and procedures
- Experience using AUTOCAD
Key Responsibilities:
This role involves managing and operating a section dedicated to delivering the Survey Services Program and Land Survey System Program in the northwest region of Manitoba. The Land Surveyor will provide expert technical and legal survey knowledge in accordance with the regulations set by the Association of Manitoba Land Surveyors (AMLS). This position requires extensive collaboration with various stakeholders, including Crown Lands, Manitoba Hydro, and other governmental departments.
