Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for creating a safe and supportive environment? Do you thrive in high-pressure situations and possess excellent communication skills? We are seeking a dedicated Security Guard to join our team at the Canada Border Services Agency in Surrey.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside Federal Law Enforcement Officers, gaining valuable experience and skills in law enforcement. You will be responsible for monitoring individuals who have arrived at the airport and are experiencing immigration complications, ensuring their safety and well-being.

As a Security Guard, you will be expected to:

  • Ensure the protection of people, assets, and property.
  • Escort individuals within the facility, using restraints as necessary.
  • Demonstrate empathy and compassion when interacting with individuals under stress.
  • Observe, monitor, and report on behavior of detainees.
  • Conduct regular foot patrols of indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Monitor and utilize security software and equipment effectively.
  • Generate daily incident reports.
  • Utilize tactical training to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.

Requirements for Success
  • A valid British Columbia security guard license.
  • A valid and current First Aid Level 1 (OFA1) certification.
  • Advanced Security Training (AST) certification.
  • Canadian citizenship or Permanent residence status.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a Public Works Clearance and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • 1-year of security guard experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities.
  • Experience working in high-stress environments with quick responsiveness to emergency situations.
