About The Role:
The Field Operations Engineer (FOE) is an individual well-versed in computer hardware who delivers exceptional customer service to our clients. The FOE acts as Cobalt's on-site representative and is integral to our swift-response field operations team when hardware malfunctions occur at client locations. Occasionally, FOEs participate in field projects and new robot installations. This role is crucial in maintaining our robots' functionality and ensuring client satisfaction. Please note, this is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  1. Gain comprehensive knowledge of our robotic hardware to confidently service and maintain our machines (paid training will be provided).
  2. Engage with both technical and non-technical colleagues regarding field repairs and projects.
  3. Address and resolve hardware failures on our robots promptly and safely.
  4. Occasionally support field operation projects and new robot installations.
  5. Be dispatched to client locations within your area to resolve hardware issues 1-3 times monthly (potentially more).
  6. Report to a Regional Project Manager for task assignments and delegation.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  1. Passionate about robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, with a willingness to learn.
  2. Familiar with hardware assembly and disassembly (basic hand tools will be provided).
  3. Knowledgeable about computer hardware and small electrical components (specialized training will be provided).
  4. Excellent communication skills and comfortable collaborating on platforms such as Slack and Google Meet.
  5. Available during weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM (flexible/on-call schedule).
  6. Open to supporting tasks that may occur after hours and on weekends (flexible/on-call schedule).
  7. Presentable and comfortable interacting with clients from major corporations.
  8. Dedicated to providing outstanding customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in robotics.
  2. Background in computer hardware and electrical components.
  3. Experience in a dynamic startup environment.
  4. Military or First Responder experience.
  5. Associate degree or higher.
The Field Operations Engineer position is a contractor role at Cobalt AI and is NOT remote. Compensation ranges from $20 to $50 per hour, depending on experience. Cobalt AI does not cover relocation expenses for this role.
