Mechanical Field Operations Coordinator

The Mechanical Field Operations Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient performance of railcar inspection, maintenance, and repair at CN. Reporting to the Mechanical Field leadership, this role collaborates closely with various teams to contribute to safety orientation, compliance, enforcement, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support online failure investigations and follow-up to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Assist in responding to dangerous goods incidents and leaks in yards to minimize disruptions and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to the creation, auditing, and implementation of standard operating procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency.
  • Support the achievement of Performance Monitoring Reporting Compliance (PMRC) targets, expectations, and objectives to drive business performance.
  • Analyze car inspection and repair productivity using CN's data to identify areas for improvement and optimize processes.
  • Perform analysis on locomotive reliability and repair billing initiatives to inform business decisions and drive growth.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and initiating improvement activities to enhance overall performance and efficiency.
  • Support the development and implementation of locomotive automated alerts to improve safety and reduce downtime.
  • Contribute to the development of KPIs on reliability performance to drive business improvement and growth.
  • Document, identify, and analyze failure patterns to inform business decisions and drive process improvements.
  • Launch surveys to conduct root cause analysis requirements to drive business improvement and growth.
  • Support special projects, data analysis, and recommendations for improvement, reporting, and presentations to drive business performance and growth.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams Notes, and Word) to support data analysis, reporting, and presentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of reporting software such as Tableau and Smartsheet to support data visualization and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), Query Designer, ARIBA, or equivalent to support data analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Service Reliability System (SRS) to support data analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Valid Driver's License to support field operations and travel requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions to support field operations requirements.
  • Ability to perform occasional travel (25%) between Canada and the United States to support business requirements.

Education

  • Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, BCom, Computer Science, or Construction Management to support business requirements and growth.
