HR Operations Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for team members, offering expert guidance on all human resources matters.
  • Assist with labor relations issues, including joint management meetings, interpretation and application of collective agreements, grievance procedures, and the progressive discipline process.
  • Identify and assess opportunities to enhance the employee experience, fostering engagement and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to conduct workplace investigations and resolve issues effectively.
  • Work alongside the Health & Safety team to promote a safety culture and support testing measures.
  • Manage employee data through the human capital management system, providing necessary support to employees and supervisors.
  • Oversee the attendance management program and maintain communication with managers and employees.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, both salaried and hourly.
  • Engage in weekly HR team meetings (both local and corporate) and participate in operational discussions.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives, including quarterly reporting aligned with company objectives.
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment for hourly positions as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Technical Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist capacity with diverse responsibilities across various HR functions.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent post-secondary qualification in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
  • CPHR designation is a valuable asset.

Business Qualifications

  • Experience in a unionized labor environment with a solid understanding of collective agreements and their application.
  • Background in construction and/or manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Proficient in technology, particularly with strong Excel capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities flexibly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for business needs.
