Position Overview

As a Software Development Engineer for Tools at Jobs for Humanity, you will be instrumental in the creation and execution of technologies utilized by our content development teams. Your primary objective will be to enhance the workflow of these teams, enabling them to concentrate on crafting exceptional gaming experiences.

As a champion of productivity, you will select, design, and sustain innovative, user-centric, and enduring solutions that bring production concepts to fruition. By engaging with users, you will establish a collaborative feedback loop, driven by your creativity and precision, ensuring the effectiveness and intuitive nature of the tools you provide. With agility and accuracy, you will address the requirements of various production sectors and offer insights to enhance existing systems.

Your contributions will empower the teams you support to tackle any technical obstacles and seamlessly translate their vision and creativity into outstanding games.

Key Responsibilities

  • In a collaborative environment that fosters knowledge sharing, you will:
  • Develop and uphold robust tools aimed at boosting efficiency and long-term compatibility for production teams.
  • Design tools tailored to meet specific requirements.
  • Debug systems and ensure the quality of tool code.
  • Identify and recommend technologies for both new tool development and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Work to automate processes that facilitate a smooth workflow.
  • Collaborate with production team members (artists, designers, etc.) to thoroughly understand their needs.
  • Share insights and innovations with colleagues in the tools community.
  • Stay informed about technological advancements in programming and video game production.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software programming, preferably within the video game industry or a related field.
  • A degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proficient in various programming languages, particularly C# and C++.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and resourceful, with a proactive approach to engaging with others.
  • Adaptability in organizing your work to accommodate changes.
