Position Overview

As a Software Development Engineer for Tools at Jobs for Humanity, you will be instrumental in the creation and execution of technologies utilized by our content development teams. In your role as a productivity advocate, you will select, design, and uphold innovative, user-centric, and sustainable solutions that will bring production concepts to fruition. You will engage with users to establish a collaborative feedback loop, underpinned by your creativity and meticulousness, ensuring the effectiveness and intuitive nature of the tools you provide. With agility and precision, you will address the requirements of various production sectors and offer suggestions for enhancing existing systems.

Your contributions will empower the teams you support to tackle any technical challenges and seamlessly translate their vision and creativity into outstanding games.

Key Responsibilities

  • In a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing, you will:
  • Develop and sustain robust tools aimed at boosting productivity and long-term integration for production teams.
  • Design tools tailored to meet specific requirements.
  • Debug systems and ensure the quality of tool code.
  • Identify and recommend technologies for both new tool development and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Work towards automating processes to facilitate a smooth workflow.
  • Collaborate with production team members (artists, designers, etc.) to thoroughly understand their needs.
  • Share insights and innovations with colleagues in the tools community.
  • Stay informed about technological advancements in programming and video game production.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software programming, preferably within the video game industry or a related field.
  • A degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong proficiency in various programming languages, particularly C# and C++.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, curiosity, and resourcefulness that drive you to engage with others.
  • Flexibility in organizing your work, enabling you to adapt to changing circumstances.
