Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Library Clerk to join our team at the Waterloo Region District School Board. As a Library Clerk, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school library, supporting students and staff, and promoting a love of reading.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage library collections, including charging, discharging, shelving, and repairing loaned materials.
  • Assist staff and students in using the library and locating resources using the integrated library system.
  • Handle overdues, statistical records, and correspondence.
  • Filing and processing new materials, Ministry software, and other administrative tasks.
  • Monitor library automation hardware and audiovisual equipment and accessories.
Requirements
  • Secondary School graduation diploma is required.
  • At least one year's experience in the clerical field is required, preferably in a library.
  • THR Library Clerks: The Elementary School Library Training, Insignia ILS circulation basics permissions, and experience is required.
  • Enhanced library working knowledge through completion of the following workshops is preferred: Insignia ILS: Beyond the Basics, Elementary School Library Fundamentals, Circulation Management, Search & Discover, Online Library Support, New School Year Start Up, and End of Year Library Checklist.
  • Well-developed keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to learn new software applications and adapt to the ever-changing nature of school libraries.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching above shoulder level, standing for extended periods of time, lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
