Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Advisory Vice President to join our team at SMBC Group. This role will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on regulatory compliance matters, ensuring that our organization remains in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory compliance matters, including Bank Act, Privacy, OSFI Guidelines, and other relevant regulations.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Lead the execution of regulatory change management initiatives and ensure timely implementation of new regulations.
  • Manage compliance data governance and oversee the maintenance of compliance metadata.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as law or business.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in financial services compliance, preferably in a leading Canadian law firm or as in-house counsel for a federally regulated financial institution.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
