Position Overview
This is a regular position where you will:

  • Execute engineering projects adhering to IEC 61850 standards for digital power systems.
  • Assume various roles including project manager, project leader, and proposal leader.
  • Prepare competitive and value-driven proposals.
  • Oversee project work packages, timelines, budgets, and teams.
  • Design protection diagrams, including logic and control diagrams.
  • Develop substation HMI/SCADA architecture and configurations.
  • Configure intelligent electronic devices such as relays and substation controllers.
  • Lead testing initiatives at BBA's digital power systems laboratory.
  • Coordinate the commissioning of digital power systems.
  • Share technical knowledge with colleagues across BBA's offices in Canada.
  • Promote expertise during client meetings and through the creation of technical documents, blog articles, white papers, and more.

Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in power systems.
  • Willingness to travel to various offices and client locations across Canada.
  • Familiarity with the latest technologies applicable to electrical substations.
  • Understanding of power system communication protocols (MMS/GOOSE/SMV/DNP3).
  • Experience in configuring protection relays and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61850 settings, including manufacturing and system configuration tools.
  • Insight into telecommunications, including Ethernet networks, PTP, PRP/HSR, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with test equipment for protection relays.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
  • A graduate degree in electrical engineering or a related field is an asset.
