Program Specialist Harm Reduction Expert

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Specialist to join our team. This is a permanent full-time position, working 75 hours biweekly.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert-level advice and guidance on harm reduction, stigma reduction, and trauma-informed work.
- Coordinate projects and initiatives with internal and external partners to advance harm reduction and health promotion.
- Contribute to knowledge translation by synthesizing complex research findings and developing evidence-informed decision-making tools.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop policies and programs aimed at empowering marginalized populations and reducing stigma.
- Develop tools, indicators, and measures to enable an understanding of health protection and healthy communities work.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in health promotion, sociology, or a related field, with 5 years of relevant experience. A Master's degree in public health or a related field with 3 years of experience is also acceptable.
- Strong skills and experience in facilitation, media advocacy, and communication.
- Knowledge of and experience working with stigmatized populations and individuals who have experienced trauma.
- Philosophy and core principles of harm reduction.
- Understanding of oppression and stigma as a social determinant of health.
- Experience with evidence-informed decision-making tools and practices.
- Innovative systems thinking with an understanding of working with communities and community-based organizations.
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $39.23 - $45.79 hourly, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
