About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Specialist to join our team. This is a permanent full-time position, working 75 hours biweekly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert-level advice and guidance on harm reduction, stigma reduction, and trauma-informed care.
  • Coordinate projects and initiatives with internal and external partners to advance the understanding of harm reduction and stigma reduction.
  • Contribute to knowledge translation by synthesizing complex research findings and developing evidence-informed decision-making tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop policies and programs aimed at empowering marginalized populations and reducing stigma.
  • Develop tools, indicators, and measures to enable an understanding of health protection and healthy communities work.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in health promotion, sociology, or a related field, with 5 years of relevant experience. A Master's degree in public health or a related field is an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of harm reduction, stigma reduction, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Experience working with stigmatized populations and individuals who have experienced trauma.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in coalitions and build strategic partnerships.
  • Experience in project management and community development.
Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $45.79 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
