Job Title: Gender Equality and Inclusion Advisor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Gender Equality and Inclusion Advisor. This volunteer opportunity is based in Kigali, Rwanda, and is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with our partner, the Center for Economic Governance and Leadership (CEGL) of the University of Kigali, to advance gender equality and women's empowerment in Rwanda. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing gender equality and inclusion strategies
  • Providing training and capacity-building programs for CEGL staff and stakeholders
  • Assessing and evaluating current gender equality practices and developing innovative solutions
  • Organizing awareness and education campaigns to promote gender equality
  • Facilitating community engagement and training sessions on gender equality
  • Contribute to embedding gender perspectives in partner programs and establishing mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the impact of gender equality initiatives
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in gender and women's studies, feminist studies, or a related field
  • Experience working with different organizations/institutions in gender integration and mainstreaming
  • Deep understanding of theoretical and practical concepts and issues related to gender equality and inclusion
  • Excellent communication and training skills
  • Fluency in English
